Marietta Sleep and Sedation

Many people avoid dental care because they believe it will be an unpleasant, painful and uncomfortable experience.  Some people develop such severe phobias, fears, and dental anxieties that it prevents them from seeking any dental care at all.

If you are one of the millions of Americans who avoid going to the dentist because just the thought of it makes you anxious, you will be happy to know that the Marietta Dental Office of Dr. Kurtzman, DDS specializes in providing the highest quality dental care to persons suffering from dental phobias and anxiety.  Dr. Kurtzman is the Atlanta area’s premier provider of sleep sedation dentistry.

Dr. Kurtzman helped pioneer sleep and sedation dentistry over 20 years ago and he is one of the few dentists in Georgia today who specializes in sleep and sedation dentistry.  Sleep and sedation dentistry is not only pain free, but anxiety free as well.

Dr. Kurtzman and his caring, compassionate staff provide a range of options for persons suffering from dental anxiety.  For mild to moderate anxiety, Dr. Kurtzman and his staff provide pain free dental care in the calm, soothing environment of Dr. Kurtzman’s dental office.  For very mild anxiety, local anesthesia and nitrous oxide gas is usually enough to keep a patient calm and comfortable.  The patient will be fully awake and aware throughout the procedure, but will feel no pain or discomfort.

For moderate anxiety, mild oral sedatives will be used to reduce the patient’s anxiety level and keep the patient comfortable throughout the dental procedures.  The patient will be in a sleepy, dream like state and will not feel any pain or discomfort.

For patients with severe anxiety or dental phobias, general anesthesia is necessary.   Assisted by a trained anesthesiologist and surgical nurses, Dr. Kurtzman performs dental procedures on these patients in a hospital operating room specially equipped for dentistry.  The patient is fully asleep and will feel no pain or discomfort during the dental procedure.
